1. Battery description and operation

1.1.Purpose

1.1.1 The lead-acid 56PzS (M)-350 P battery is designed for DC electrical equipment in railway passenger cars with 110 V electrical supply and air ventilation systems. They are used in compartment coaches.

- the new type of battery is designed for 5 years of operation in outside-air temperatures from -40°C to +40°C (1200 nominal charge/discharge cycles).

The 56PzSM350P battery has a minimal weight and overall dimensions compared with all the rest alkaline and acid batteries, used in such coaches.

The battery does not require any overhaul or maintenance. The service is only reduced to distilled water replenishment when the weather is hot (0.5l), which necessity can be established by removing the upper lid of the battery.

- The battery has a minimal charge energy consumption in coach applications at real average nominal power 350 Ah (up to 95% capacity ratio)

- The battery is the only one in the world which ensures the charging of the existing coach and under-coach devices with the electrolyte cooled down to -40°С during prolonged idle time stopovers in places for sorting.

- It is not necessary to remove the battery from the coach for recovery after deep discharge or prolonged stopovers (up to 0.5 years). To resume work with the electrical equipment with a fully discharged battery it is only necessary to charge it for 5 hours from the device under the coach at any temperature. The guaranteed capacity is 0.6 of the nominal capacity, and the full nominal capacity is reached within 24 hours if the coach is travelling.

-The battery provides preliminary cooling of the coach before the passengers reach their destination thanks to the fact that the electric engines of the ventilation system are charged from the battery for at least two hours.

The electric appliances need not be switched off the battery during idle time in the whole outside temperature range (-40ºС tо +40ºС).

Before starting operation the battery needs one charge cycle after the addition of the electrolyte (for all acid type batteries).

- The 56PzSM350P battery has undergone comparative trials, organized by Russian Railways JSC for all types of modern passenger coach batteries, used in Russian coaches, according to a special methodology. These trials were carried out by a testing centre authorized by the Russian State Standard and the 56PzSM350P battery was found to compare favourably in all features with all famous batteries in equal operating conditions.

2.1.1 The lead-acid 56PzS(M)-425P battery is designed for DC electrical equipment on railway passenger coaches with 110 V electrical supply and air ventilation systems. They are used in dining cars.

3.1 Purpose

3.1.1 The lead-acid 26PzS(M)-280P battery is designed for DC electrical equipment in railway passenger coaches with 50 V electrical supply. They are used in open-plan railway passenger cars.

3.2 Теchnical characteristics

- of the battery 26PzS(M)-280P – 52 V.
- of the element PzS(M)-280P – 2 V.

3.3 Overall dimensions and weight of element and module

For diesel locomotives

Purpose

The 64V ТНС 450Ah , 96V ТНС 450Ah batteries are mainly designed for the internal combustion engines of diesel locomotives, as well as powering the control systems, the lighting and other electric equipment when the engine is not working. Also, they are designed for operation in the conditions of M25 group in conformity with GOST 17516. The batteries are certified by Federal Railway Transport Certification Register (FRTCR).

The 64V ТНС 450Ah , 96V ТНС 450Ah batteries are analogous to the 32ТН-450 и 48ТН-450 types, produced by Vladar, Ukraine, and Elektrotyaga, Russia.

BATTERY STRUCTURE

The 64V ТНC 450Ah battery consists of 16 cells with 2 elements in each one.

The 96V ТНС 450Ah battery consists of 24 cells with 2 elements in each one. The size and structure of the elements are shown in the drawings.

The cell is encased in a shock-proof case with a unique plastic coating, specially designed for "Elhim-Iskra" JSC, which withstands all aggressive impact under heavy-duty applications. The 4V ТНC 450Ah cell type has handles for manual handling, as well as for crane lifting.

The element blocks consist of positive and negative electrodes, welded with conductive clamps.

Electrodes: пасирана tin-lead alloy grid

Electrolyte: water solution of sulphuric acid with a density of 1,290±0,005 g/сm. The series connection between elements and cells is achieved through strong copper connectors (30х3 мм), covered in lead and designed as a bolt connection.

Batteries are transported on all kinds of transport, in both covered and open vehicles, located vertically, in compliance with the rules and regulations for different transports.

When transported on automobile vehicles the batteries must be packed in wooden containers. The pallets with batteries must be wrapped in heat-resistant foil, which will protect them from unfavourable atmospheric conditions. The overall dimensions and the drawings of the boxes are shown in the pictures.

It is absolutely forbidden to dispose of the elements or cells during loading/unloading.
